garden report: i want to hug my garden

really, really loving the backyard.  it's really fun to inspect all the new plants and see the creatures that have come back!  exciting times :)

• earthworms hanging out below the grassy bits -- there were none before!
• weed seedlings -- so far, heart-shaped, oval-shaped, and blades of grass -- sprouting left and right
• a cat poking about -- it scratched its head on all of the staircase posts and on me & matt!
• blue bird visits, including one that flew into the house
• a hummingbird flew past my head -- it was visiting a neighboring avocado tree, but next spring, we should have enough flowering plants to attract some interest.
• the spiders are spinning webs on anything that hasn't moved in a couple of days, including a ladder.

p.s. the kale is doing great -- there's one guy who is thriving!  i like to joke that he's going to go to harvard one day :)
