It's fine to be proud of your persistence, determination, and success, at least under one definition of the word. I'm glad she is attempting to relay her experiences and lessons in order for other parents to appreciate and mimic her system. But I'm not that impressed by a system that by her claims focuses solely on a few skills (piano/violin brilliance, good grades in most classes but not the humanities), to the detriment of a world of others (learning multiple languages, playing exotic/traditional instruments, working well with others, physical and athletic prowess). Of course, she's succeeded in selling books, so what do I know.
plus she didn't do much to dispel stereotypes of Asian Americans, which might do more damage to A-Am men, already seemingly undesirable to many Americans, than A-Am women. My mom works with many A-Am men at Stanford Med school and comments that they lack social skills. Granted, she's white, but it's one perspective.
