goings ons

recently,
  • parking ticket, first of 2009.
  • threat of lawsuit from testmasters for posting my lsat books online.  those fuckers.
  • made creamy grits and shrimp.  3/4 cup cream and 6T of butter, pretty bad idea.  made crust-less salmon quiche.  pretty good idea.
  • brussels sprouts are my new favorite vegetable.
  • gestalt and ramblas with eddie michael erika matt ann.
  • pasta with john jenna.
  • read ominvore's dilemma by michael pollen and blindness by jose saramago.  despite omnivore's preachiness, i thought it was a nice look at our food system.  i appreciate that he addressed two things (1) why buy local and (2) fancy food is not just for elites.  i'm not 100% convinced by explanations to 1 and 2, but i'm definitely more aware of my food purchasing decisions.  why do people love blindness so much?  what did i miss?  anyway, i'm taking book suggestions, let me know if you've got anything.  next on my list:  2008 best american nonrequired reading, nudge, kafka on the shore, and the time traveler's wife.  i think i have some graphic novels on hold as well, but there's a long queue.
  • studying for gmat.

1) There Is No Me Without You by Melissa Fay Greene

2) The Book Thief

3) anything by David Halberstam, but each book feels like a university course.

4) tried any Jasper Fforde?
