- salkantay ("wild mountain") trek, the backdoor path to macchu picchu. 85 km but with horses, horsemen, cooks, and a guide. camped between snow-capped mountains, descended into the cloud forest and jungle, bathed in hot springs.
- altitude sickness, toenails falling off, and mosquito bites.
- rafting-paddling in cold-tame water.
- bargaining lessons from bonnie, gavin, and hanson. smile, flirt, take off your sunglasses, beg, make up a story.
- more incan ruins: pisaq, q'enke, saqsewaman
- crossing picket lines and blockades, in attempt to get to ollataytambo. mixed feelings.
- reprimand from terry -- don't let boys and careers become tradeoffs. i reacted with the usual defensiveness about my life choices.
