experienced analyst training, summer 2008

i missed round one last year but caught round two in boston this weekend. highlights:

• playing hooky with annie
• going on a silly scavenger hunt where we serenaded strangers, danced on bar counters, and asked red sox fans to let us take pictures of them.
• catching up and talking with johann at dinner; also on saturday night instead of partying; also on the airplane. we talked about: david beckham's ability to remake himself and various soccer clubs; american versus international sports; the roots of malay; the malaysian school system; religion and the legal system in malaysia; ethnic tension; dignity and the workplace; growing up in malaysia; our families; disciplining children; inner-city urban youth culture and issues that boys and girls face specifically; the bronx; living in east palo alto; legitimacy / credibility in non-profit work; travel; roommates; siblings.
• lunch and hanging out with katherine in her natural environment: paramount and the charles river, the public gardens and ice cream :). we talked about boys, lab work, friendship and flakiness, travel, and our siblings.

i was afraid that i would feel lonely because my closest cornerstone friends weren't with me: eugene, priscilla, whalen, terry, lauren, vinay and many many more. but really, i felt okay. it's good to be back, though.
