my parents have this hanging in their house. i like it a lot; it might even be a new year-type sentiment. it means something like peace is fortune.

is it like 'peace is fortunate', as in, you're really lucky to get some peace
or is luck peaceful? does 'fortune' mean something more like fate? i guess i'm still confused. i realized it can't necessarily be translated.
i think 平安 (peace) is more like safety, stability, no bad things happening to you.
福 (fortune) is more like happiness or a blessing.
i think it's saying that boring stuff is happiness. anyway, i kind of like that. but i like to do jigsaw puzzles, wrap myself in blankets, look at trees and walk around for fun, which most people find boring. :(
